The National Research Centre for Environmental Toxicology, Entox, strives to provide leading-edge science to improve human health through a healthy environment.
Entox is a joint venture of the University of Queensland and the Queensland Department of Health.
Our mission is to improve the health of people and ensure an environmentally sustainable future by:
a) generating new knowledge on the sources, fate, exposure, and effects of environmental contaminants, and to apply this knowledge to environmental and human risk assessment.
b) providing education and training in environmental toxicology and risk assessment in an environment where students and staff can grow and fulfil their aspirations. and
c) engaging with academia, industry, government and the general public.
Research in environmental toxicology is conducted at Entox within a risk assessment framework, which is composed of hazard identification, followed by parallel exposure and effect assessment to result in risk characterisation and strategies for risk reduction
